EditSprings Expert Academic Assessment Report

Significance

Whether the findings possess the promise for theoretical research or application in the field related?
The present paper is a significant study in numerical turbulent combustion which can be used in several combustion applications, and it is one of the complex research topics in the field of combustion.
What is the specific significance of the findings?
Authors could able to simulate a numerical turbulent combustion with heat loss and fuel stratification using a valuable FGM method which is completely compatible with experimental data in a lot of physical cases, as it is shown in the Fig.16.Although there are some simplification such as fixing Lewis Number into 1, the overall value of the current work is high enough to be published in one of the reputable journals in the field of combustion.

Novelty

What kind of new technologies or methods is applied that deserved to be recommend-ed?
A novel numerical method entitled FGM.
What new discoveries or conclusions are presented?
The application of FGM in combustion with heat loss, fuel stratification and turbulence has never been studied in literature. It means that the whole of the paper, especially the application of FGM in turbulent combustion is new and novel.

Systematicness

Whether the research is systematically or scientifically designed and performed.
To be honest, the organization of the current paper has some issues. Forinstance, section 2-Combustion Modeling: the Flamelet-Generated Manifold Method-shouldn't be a separate section. It would be combined by introduction section, as it also a literature review section. There are also some weaknessesinside the text. For example, sentences which have been highlighted with yellow color are completely simple sentences which would be eliminated from the text. In addition, some sentences which have been highlighted with violet color must have appropriate references, as they are some findings from the literature. Please find the attached file to see the highlighted sentences. Furthermore, in some sentences the number of used references should be decreased into maxi- mum 2or 3 references. This references have been highlighted by green color in the attached file.

Preciseness

Whether the data is analyzed in the right way.
Yes, the presented data have been analyzed in an appropriate format, although in some cases there are some weaknesses. For example, as it is mentioned before, some scientific sentences need to have appropriate references, which have been highlighted in violet color in the attached PDF file.
Whether the results and conclusion are demonstrated in the right way.
Just in figure number 3, permission of the publisher should be received before republishing the mentioned figure in the text.

Language

Is the language qualified for publication?
Yes, it is. There is no issue in the language of the current paper.

Comments

Assess the overall academic level of the manuscript, and give the targeted IF range.
As it is a valuable piece in the field of turbulent combustion phenomenon,I think that it can be published in relevant and technical journals by IF range of 3-5. The best journal for this paper is Combustion and Flame which has a normal IF, and it's 4.168. In my point of view, the relevance of the joumal to the paper is moreimportant than the IF of the journal, and as I said before, based on the value of the paper,I suggest technical journals such as "Proceedings of the Combustion Institute, IF=4.303"and "Combustion and Flame, IF=4.168.

EditSprings Journal Recommendation Report

No.1 The Most Likely Target Journal.
Level(1/2/3)2
Journal Name:Combustion and Flame.
Impact Factor: 4.168
Website:https: /www.journals.elsevier.com/combustion-and-flame
Review process:(time) It depends on the re-viewer but normally it's about three months for this joumal.
Publication cycle: 6 months
Prior publications:

3. Nguyen,P.D, Vervisch,L, Subramanian,V., Domingo,P.: Combustion and Flame:157:43-61,2010.
Advantages and disadvantages of submitti-ng the manuscript to the journal recommended.
The advantage of submitting this paper to Combustion and Flame journal is that the mentioned journal is very reputable in the field of combustion phenomenon although it has low IF comparing to the others.Disadvantages of submiting this paper to Combustion and Flame jourmal is that the review process in this journal sometimes is unacceptable and too long.It need a little patience.
No.2 The Second-choice journal.
Level(1/2/3)2
Journal Name:Proceeding of the Combusti-on Institute.
Impact Factor: 4.303
Website:https:/www.journals.elsevier.com/proceedings-of-the-combustion-institute
Review process:(time) It's too fast, and it's about 2-3months which depends on the paper. It changes based on the nominated reviewers to review the paper.
Publication cycle: 2~3 months
Prior publications:
1. Bell,J.B., Day,M.S. Grcar,J.F, Lijewski,M.J., DriscollJ.F, Filatyev,S.A,: Proceeding of the Combustion Institute, 31:1299-1307,2007.

Advantages and disadvantages of submiing themanuscript to the journal recommende-d.
Although it is the valuable journal in the field of combustion. it has strict roles which make it very hard to publish a paperthere. But the advantages of this journal is its reviewing time which is about 2-3 months.
No.3 The third-choice journal.
Level(1/2/3)3
Journal Name:Flow,Turbulence and Comb-ustion.
Impact Factor: 1.863
Website:https:/link.springer.com/journal/10494
Review process:(time) It's too fast, and it's about 6~12 weeks which depends on the paper. Meanwhile, it is easy to be accept.
Publication cycle: 6~12 weeks
Prior publications:
1. Vreman,A.W, van Oijen,J.A, de Goey,L.P.H, Bastiaans,R.J.M, Flow, Turbulence and Combustion,82:511-535,2009.
2. Ravikanti,M., Malalasekera,W, Hossain,M., Mahmud,T, Flow, Turbulence and Combustion,81:301-319,2008.
Advantages and disadvantages of submitti-ng the manuscript to the journal recomme-nded.
It is more relevant to the current paper, but it has a lower IF. So, it may have a short review time, but it will be more difficult to address the comment, and it has a low IF comparing to the two previous journals.
