稿件编号,文题和所有作者的姓名

   修改稿的投稿信与最初的投稿信不同,所以称为修改稿投稿信,即“Resubmission cover letter”,而不是“Cover letter”。在这一投稿信中,必须写明稿件编号、文题及所有作者的姓名。这样可以让编辑部很容易找到此稿的档案,以便査对和审稿。个别作者有意了解自己论文的情况,提笔写信问编辑如何处理自已的稿件,既无稿件编号,也无文题,只写上作者的姓名。好像编辑部只收到这一份稿件一样。这不仅给编辑人员的工作带来麻烦,更重要的是会延误论文的审查和发表,这种误己不利人的事应该杜绝。

对编辑和审稿人表示感谢

   编辑部决定某稿件修改,就意味着修改后可能发表。在修改稿的投稿信中,应礼貌地对编辑和审稿人表示谢意。这不仅是对他们的无偿服务和对稿件的处理表示感谢,同时也是对他们辛勤劳动的尊重。因此表示感谢决非一种形式上的表达和多余之举,而是种发自内心的、理所应当的致谢。但英文表达要掌握分寸,不可过分。以下是一些致谢的英文常用句型,也许可以在写感谢时能派上用场。

  －We thank the reviewers for their constructive criticism of the manuscript.

  －We thank this reviewer for his/ her encouraging(constructive)comments regarding our study.

  －Thank you much for you constructive comments and suggestions which served as a welcome guideline to improve the manuscript.We thank the reviewer for perceptive and extensive detailed comments.

对修改稿的说明

   修改稿还应说明再投稿中的主要修改部分(对main concern的回答)。修改稿要明确指出:①文稿已按编辑部和审稿人的修改建议做了完全的或基本的修改;②如还有未做修改的部分,要具体说明哪些部分未做修改,并应详细说明理由。如有已发表的文献根据,包括自己的或他人的,应原文引用,并列出足够的参考文献。总之,说明未加修改的原因,要尽管充分、圆满,不可轻描淡写。如果你还没有充分的依据说明未做修改的理由,我认为还是按编辑部的意见做修改为上策。否则只会拖延时间,为作者带来不必要的麻烦。
